Abstract

Gender discrimination remains a significant challenge in workplaces worldwide, manifesting in various forms such as the gender pay gap, the glass ceiling, and sexual harassment. This paper examines the pervasive nature of workplace discrimination and its impact on individuals, organizations, and society. It explores legal frameworks and policies, including constitutional provisions and specific legislative acts in India, aimed at combating discrimination based on gender, race, age, religion, and disability. The study highlights the adverse consequences of workplace discrimination, such as reduced employee morale, mental health challenges, legal repercussions, and decreased workplace diversity. Additionally, it discusses the social and psychological roots of discriminatory behavior, emphasizing the role of learned biases and societal influences. By analyzing key case studies and legal precedents, this paper underscores the urgent need for inclusive workplace policies, legal enforcement, and cultural transformation to create equitable professional environments. Addressing workplace discrimination requires a multifaceted approach involving legal protection, corporate accountability, and societal awareness to foster a more just and inclusive workforce.
